What environmental impact does iSWITCH have throughout its entire life cycle?
Enkoa has completed the process of preparing and verifying an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), and to do so we have developed an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study and EPD documentation in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN standards. For its development, Enkoa has had the collaboration of Consultoría y Formación Margube, S.L., a specialist in LCA and sustainability, which has supported the company through the calculation, modeling, and documentation phases.
What is a Life Cycle Assessment and why does it matter?
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is like taking a complete environmental X-ray of a product. It doesn't just look at what happens at the factory, but everything: where the materials come from, how they are transported, what happens when the product is installed and operating, and what happens when it reaches the end of its life. It is the most honest way to measure the real impact of a technology.
What the study revealed
The most important finding is clear: iSWITCH's greatest environmental impact is not in its manufacturing, but in how energy is consumed in buildings during daily use. This has a very direct, positive reading: every time iSWITCH turns off the climate control in an empty room or automatically adjusts the lighting, it is reducing emissions in a cumulative and consistent way. The savings during operation far exceed the impact of producing the device.
The study is available for review and verification by any interested party.
